The IMOCA 60 Maître Coq V was commissioned by Yannick Bestaven to compete in 2024-2025 Vendee Globe.
It was designed by Verdier Design Team headed by Guillaume Verdier and launched on the 29 August 2022, after being built by CDK Technologies in France. [1]
Characteristics and development
Following their previous victory, Maître CoQ and Yannick Bestaven continued their collaboration by taking up the challenge from 2021 to win for the second consecutive time in the Vendée Globe 2024-2025.[2][3] Having built the ship Maître CoQ V in 17 months by the architects Guillaume Verdier, VPLP Design and and shipyard CDK Technologies in Port-la-Forêt, Bretagne.[4][5][6]
The sailing boat is designed in particular with 2 new foils of 7 m,[7] a closed cockpit, a new distribution of ballasts, for a potential top speed of more than 40 knots.[8]
