デニス・ブラウン（Dennis Brown, 1957年 2月1日 - 1999年 7月1日）は、ジャマイカ・キングストン出身のレゲエシンガーである。ディープでソウルフルなヴォーカルで知られた。Crown Prince Of Reggaeとも呼ばれた。代表曲に「マネー・イン・マイ・ポケット」などがある。

障害

デリック・ハリオットに見出され、1969年に12歳で少年歌手として初録音を行いデビューした。^[1]翌1970年にコクソン・ドッドのスタジオ・ワンレーベルからデビューアルバム『No Man Is An Island』をリリース。以降、「Trojan」、「Harry J」、「Joe Gibbs」、「Vp」、「Ras」、「Taxi」等、複数のレーベルよりアルバムをリリースした。また、7インチシングル盤でリリースされた「Sitting & Watching」「Wolves and Leopards」「Here I Come」等、複数のヒット曲を放っている。1979年3月に、代表曲「マネー・イン・マイ・ポケット」が全英チャート14位のヒットを記録した。^[2]

1999年7月1日、気胸により逝去。42歳の若さだった。葬儀にはP.J.パターソン首相や、エドワード・シアガ元首相も駆けつけ、弔辞を読みあげた。同年7月17日、首相経験者や偉人を葬る、キングストンのナショナル・ヒーローズ・パークへ埋葬された。
