剣を取るものは剣によって滅ぶ
剣を取るものは剣によって滅ぶ[1]（Live by the sword, die by the sword）とは、『マタイの福音書』からの箴言である。「剣を取る者は剣で滅びる」とも。
カイアファの召使いの耳を剣で斬り落とした弟子を諌めるイエス。
(マタイの福音書 26, 26:52):
"そこで、イエスは言われた。「剣をさやに納めなさい。剣を取る者は皆、剣で滅びる」”
