Kevin Fennell (Dayton) is een Amerikaans drummer. Hij vergaarde bekendheid als drummer van de indierockband Guided by Voices. Fennell heeft daarnaast als sessiemuzikant samengewerkt met Robert Pollard en Tobin Sprout, beiden van Guided by Voices.

Biografie

Fennell groeide op in Augusta (Georgia).[1] Zijn familie keerde terug naar Northridge in Dayton toen hij negen jaar was. Hij leerde Robert Pollard kennen terwijl ze Little League Baseball speelden. Op de highschool speelde Fennell in de band Ambush met Scott Bianca en Mitch Mitchell.[2] Een decennium later voegde hij zich samen met Mitchell bij Guided by Voices[3] en maakte daarmee deel uit van wat later de classic lineup ging heten.[4]

Fennell trad op als sessiemuzikant voor de eerste twee soloalbums van Tobin Sprout die uitgebracht werden in 1996 en 1997. Toen Guided by Voices in 2010 na een tussenperiode van zes jaar werd heropgericht door Pollard, maakte hij opnieuw deel uit van de band. In oktober 2013 werd hij uit de band gezet nadat hij zijn drumstel voor 55.000 dollar te koop had aangeboden op eBay.[5] Fennell wilde zijn drumstel verkopen omdat hij te weinig verdiende met de naar zijn mening spaarzame shows die gegeven werden.[6]

Fennell is een gelicentieerd onafhankelijk counselor.[7][8] Hij begeleidt mensen die verslaafd zijn aan alcohol en opiaten.
