The Hindenburg (sh. Hindenburg) je američki historijski film snimljen 1975. godine u režiji Roberta Wisea. Predstavlja adaptaciju istoimene knjige Michaela M. Mooneya koja je opisivala posljednji let njemačkog cepelina Hindenburg, završen katastrofalnim rušenjem prilikom pokušaja pristajanja u SAD 1937. godine. Radnja prikazuje kako je cepelin, koji predstavlja jedan od velikih propagandnih aduta prije nekoliko godina uspostavljenog nacističkog režima, predmet špekulacija o sabotaži te kako jedan od njemačkih oficira (koga tumači George C. Scott) nastoji raskrinkati moguće sabotere među nizom živopisnih putnika.

Film je nastojao kombinirati dva prilično popularna hollywoodska trenda - nostalgiju prema međuratnom periodu, ali i spektakularne filmove katastrofe. Studio Universal, koji je imao nekoliko velikih hitova iz tog žanra, je u njega uložio izuzetan novac, nastojeći katastrofu - jednu od rijetkih koja je bila detaljno zabilježena filmskim kamerama - što vjernije rekonstruirati kroz specijalne efekte. Jedan od posebno zanimljivih pokušaja bio je trik kojim su se autentični filmski žurnali 1930-ih nastojali posebnim tehnikama "obojati", odnosno pretopiti u suvremene igrane scene u boji. Kritika mu nije bila sklona, prije svega zbog nezanimljivih likova, a posebno se na njega okomila tada uticajna Pauline Kael; iako je imao publiku i ostvario određeni komercijalni uspjeh, relativno brzo je zaboravljen.

Uloge

Brojni od fiktivnih likova u filmu su temeljeni na stvarnim ličnostima. Tako je, na primjer, Franz Ritter temeljen na Fritzu Erdmannu, a Karl Boerth na Ericu Spehlu.[2]
