Po žanru je mješavina komedije, drame i mjuzikla, a protagonist, čiji lik tumači Elvis Presley je vođa trupe putujućih izvođača chautaqua zabavno-obrazovne predstave sa kojom 1927. godine dolazi u gradić na Srednjem zapadu. Radnja prikazuje probleme koje će imati sa svojom glavnom izvođačicom čiji lik tumači Marlyn Mason. The Trouble with Girls je napravljen u vrijeme kada je karijera Elvisa Presleya bila u silaznoj putanji, te su se producenti djelomično nastojali prilagoditi novim trendovima, uglavnom kroz nešto manje konvencionalnu režiju i montažu. Usprkos toga, The Trouble with Girls se nije pretjerano razlikovao od ranijih filmova s Presleyem u glavnoj ulozi, a slično kao i oni je loše prošao kod kritike. Presleyu je ovaj nastup bio jedan od posljednjih u filmskoj karijeri.
